About Chocolate and Cupcakes

Thats me, Sally Longson, a chocolate lover from my first mouthful

Our family love chocolate and cupcakes
Chocolate has always featured strongly in our family.  When we were kids, Friday nights always involved a trip to the corner sweet shop after supper.  There we'd all linger and browse over our choices.  The guy running the shop was always incredibly patient (he knew the sales were coming, he just didn't know what they'd be.)  But they always included Cadbury's Dairy Milk for my father, and a Crunchie or Aero for my mother.  It was my sister and I who took the time to choose. And my mother still cooks cupcakes in 3 or 4 minutes flat, so it seems, and before you know it, we're all tucking into the most gorgeous cakes, washed down of course with a mug of hot brew.

My father has been a life-long Cadbury's fan
On his 80th birthday, we held a party, and the theme was Cadbury's.  The menus were designed to fit on a small bar of Cadbury's Dairy Milk chocolate, and done in Cadbury's colours.  All the guests had a small bar of Cadbury's Dairy Milk chocolate to go home with - that went down incredibly well.  We gave my father one of the 1kg Cadbury's Dairy Milk bar as a gift (and then we insisted on helping him eat it.) The bar was designated Cadbury's Headquarters.  It was a great party, and Dad was amazed at how many chocolate themes we picked up.
So what's this site about?
The idea behind this site came to me partly as a result of organising my father's 80th birthday party. He's a chocoholic - he'll get through a bar of Dairy Milk before you can say Cadbury's. But we were rummaging around to source chocolate goodies and I thought, well, why not gather all the info & ideas for chocolate treats I've come across and put them together on one site. The more I researched & rummaged around, the more chocolate treats I found, and chocolate gifts, too - some I'd never come across before. It is amazing how much themed chocolate you can find now - from chocolate golf balls, to chocolate footballs, personalised chocolate calendars, chocolate making workshops - things have moved a long way from simply giving a box of chocolates to someone as a gift. Now you can create your own box of chocolates with a picture of you & the recipient on the front & a message on the side. Fantastic.

So this website is a collection of chocolate treats I've put together as a result of all my rummaging about. And I've added to it, extending it to cupcakes, champagne, all those treats you can enjoy or give someone as a gift idea.

Indulge yourself!
I am a big believer in the phrase "a little bit of what you fancy does you good" - and my view - for what it's worth - is that we spend so much of our lives hearing about what we should, ought and must do, especially when it comes to health and wellbeing. Cut out the things you love, and you really feel deprived, that's my thinking. It doesn't make you feel good. Indulge a little bit, and you feel as though you have something to look forward to. We eat a few squares of chocolate every single night after supper, and it's great to have those squares to enjoy & look forward to. If you're anything like me, we work hard & fast in this life and we need our pleasures.

The legal stuff
This site has info on various products you can buy from different retailers - you're not buying from me, but always clicking on links to go through to their sites and you buy from there. Please check their terms & conditions, delivery info, refunds & returns etc etc before you buy. I've only included companies who I know and trust and who I've bought from myself in the past or who I know sufficiently well to include. Please do let me know if you have any bad experiences with any of these companies. In particular, if you're buying an experience, please make sure you're aware of how long the experience is valid for, its location and any key notes - they are easy to forget to check in the excitement of the moment. Some have minimum age restrictions, others warn that their chocolate making experiences (as an example) may involve products which sell nuts. Things do change, much as I try to keep everything up to date, so you need to be sure of what the retailers' web sites state at the time you buy. We accept no responsibility for any injury, illness, death or other caused to you as a result of any activity or chocolate you may indulge in. I would also add that I get a small commission from many of these sales, which help me work on other websites I have, many of which are related to the animal world, helping & volunteering for animals etc. I hope my efforts in putting this site together saves you time in looking for chocolate treats - leaving you more time to enjoy the chocolate!

Please let me know...
if there's anything you think that should be included let me know, and come back and see it soon! I'm adding new treats all the time
